Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
***! Important Note:
Inquire into hourly rates if this service is being requested for an office or event-type service; rates vary and discounts may be applied depending on the type of event! :)
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
This modality can be used with or without lotion, upon request.
Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
Please be advised this modality does -not- include lotion, however in 90(+) minute sessions, lotion will be utilized in the remaining 15minutes of the massage unless otherwise requested (this will be inquired within the session, prior to application).
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - “shi” (finger) and “atsu” (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Chi (energy) throughout the body. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.
With this Zen style of Shiatsu, the session is completed at a more meditative and slower pace that relies on breath work to maintain the steady physical pacing of work performed and encourages mind to body connection in the way of an equally-participating meditation model, as completed by both the therapist and individual client.
*This modality does not utilize lotion. This modality will also incorporate stretching techniques throughout, as applicable.
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.
This massage is completed at a faster pace for pre-event and a slower pace after-event recovery, as needed.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
(This is the most widely-recognized model of massage, here in North America, and the first one that comes to mind, in terms of massage, for the general population.)

Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.
This modality is ideal for patients experiencing chronic pain and is offered as a holistic approach to pain management.
Neuromuscular therapy is widely considered to be a non-pharmacological approach to pain management by many medical professionals. This approach focuses on addressing pain through physical modalities and techniques rather than relying exclusively on medication, this is noted in the 2016 CDC Guidelines for Prescribing Opiods for Chronic Pain.
* In order to experience maximum benefits of this technique, it is recommended the patient is prepared for steady dialogue throughout the session, in order to gauge tolerance to the work performed.
Note: 90min+ sessions are strongly encouraged for this modality, as are sequential sessions for best and longer lasting results. Initial sessions will include a free 15-minute consultation including but not limited to range of motion tests and related background history as it pertains to mechanisms of injury (I.E.:) overuse, repetitive stress or acute trauma.
A re-evaluation will occur after multiple sessions are completed, to provide comprehendible insight into the progress of the patient.
